Dry Coating Climbing Ropes

Ropes should stay dry to get the maximum strength because water will deteriorate the performance by up to 2/3. The driest ropes have a proprietary technology to keep the inner core dry and the outer sheath dry.

No rope is foolproof. Don't think you can soak your rope in the lake and then take it up Everest. You should still try and keep a dry coated rope dry.
